Peaceful Start to the School Week

A beautiful and unexpected peaceful night with my son! The blissful joy of motherhood.

I waited 2 hours for a train home today, and all I could think of was that I’d only get home after 6pm and wondered what “space” my son would be in…

Upon my arrival home, he was super excited to see that I bought him a small KFC snack burger (one of his favourites) and a small “I wuff you” chocolate.

I gave him our routine for the evening, “in 10 minutes you need to please do homework, then have a bath”. No fuss.

He copied his “th” words for the day, then read it to me. Then soaked in his bubble bath and we shared our day’s experiences. He had so much to tell me, it was awesome!

After he dressed in his “superman” clothes I told him that I’m going to bath and afterwards we will do some reading, which we did. He read his school book “the keys” and then we read “The Twits” together.

A lovely chilled evening! He got his stars and trophies for his homework.

Now we both relaxing on the bed, listening to Elvis Blue while I write my blog and he play racing games on his tablet. “Mom this music is making me feel so good, I’m not even driving faster than three zero (30 km), it’s just so relaxing”

What a way to end a Monday…absolutely loving it!

The reason why I am so in-love with this moment? Because it is in complete contrast to what we experience on other days…when his senses are overstimulated and EVERYTHING and ANYTHING is too much…just the thought of copying a few words sends him into a spin…

Pic1                                      and he starts to rearrange our lounge…Pic2                                      to self regulate and calm himself down…Pic3                                               then finds the perfect spot … Pic4                                   and quietly gets on with his homework.
