Pay It Forward Goes Viral In The Valley

It all started with this one post.

“Hi ladies I feel like blessing someone. Looking for a lady who needs a cut and blow-wave, a cut and blow-wave for her daughter, a cut for her son and a cut for her husband – all for free.  Anyone who suits this description? Will go to the first one to comment.” – Wednesday 1 June 2016 – 7:16pm Facebook South Peninsula Mom’s Group.

The next thing I know people are commenting, liking and loving this post. It sparked a viral kindness in the Valley by the time I logged on after 7am on 2 June 2016. By 8 pm the Group Admin lost count of the more than 200 #payitforward offers by individuals in this local Mom’s Group!

Gestures of kindness ranged from baby-sitting, to maternity services, plumbing, meal vouchers, beauty vouchers, portraits, hand-made crafts, stays at guest houses/bed & breakfasts’, party planning, counselling, tutoring,  and MANY more. All you had to do was leave a comment in the post before given deadlines and a winner would be drawn. Eezy-Peezy-Lemon-Squeezy!

We were all in awe of the level of generosity of random people in our Valley, all of this within 24 hours!

Yes, living in the Far South sure conjures up feelings of community, entrenched in our giving nature.

In the spirit of Paying it Forward, I offered a tiny platform on my blog to any small business owner who participated in this random #payitforward community initiative. All they had to do was comment on my post.

So here is the awesome list of local small business entrepreneurs who generously gave to random people in my community today. Click on the business name and visit their Facebook Page or website. You may just find what you’ve been looking for on my side of the world!

thank-you
